Took a short walk in the bush today, as the rain kept starting and stopping.

Jasper had something to say… to himself:

Then expert Mike was consulted:

I would look at this pretty boy all day:

… but then The Red is emerging silently from the hedges…

… and ruining the magic of the moment.

– the end –

Well, not exactly.

SOMETHING is out there in the bush! Drinking water from the stream!

the boys draft a quick plan:

Blue is not convinced:

And just like that, the intruder – whatever that was – vanished.

The team is disappointed (of course, Mike in particular!).

In reality, though, despite numerous heroic attempts, the only creature The Crew ever managed to capture — collectively— was a possum. And even that was purely accidental.

The bloody thing jumped out of the tree and grabbed onto the door frame, huffing and puffing, producing those noises from the depths of hell. Apparently, in possum language, that’s a love song. I’m still not entirely sure whether it found me irresistibly attractive or whether it was one of the dogs that caught its eye. After a brief audition of inappropriate possum advances, I grabbed a broom handle and threw the amorous bastard away, so I could close the door.

And off it went.

Straight down.

Landing right in the middle of the dogs’ congregation. All four had gathered around me, keen to see what I was going to do about this unexpected development.

RIP possum.

It didn’t miss spraying Blue, though.

Blue reeked to high heavens for weeks afterward. Despite countless baths, desperate pleas, and summoning all the cleaning gods along with their store-bought supplies, nothing worked. And Blue sleeps in my bed—like the rest of the crew. If by evening Blue stank, by morning we all stank, just to keep things fair.
